In November 2015 we welcomed 10 students and teachers from Myllytullin Koulu in Finland to Wolstanton. They joined us in lessons, visited the New Vic Theatre to practice their English and we took them to The Black Country Living Museum and The Potteries Museum to find out some more about our local heritage.
Next February we are going back to Oulu for the next phase in our exchange programme. It's a marvellous opportunity to immerse yourself in a foreign culture. If you would like to take part see Mr Lakin for more details.
It's March 2016 and our students are back at Myllytulli School in Oulu taking part in drama workshops about the National epic of Finland The Kalevala and making presentations about GreenPower racing, the Potteries skateboarding scene and the legacy of David Bowie... This unique sort of cultural fusion is only possible when schools have a well established and confident partnership that brings about the best of friendships amongst it's students and staff. Later in the week we'll travel north to Rovaniemi, to the Polar Circle and visit Oulu University to find out about the latest medical technologies being developed there. A truly eclectic and inspiring cultural exchange.
